Ida O'Connell
As a child I wanted to be a world traveler, artist and writer. My first foreign post was Iran where I found adventure and a husband. In Mexico I started painting with an Estonian teacher, continued in Brussels with a Hungarian artist, and in Romania with books.
Moving often disrupted the making of art. Finally retiring in Black Mountain, joining an art league, and painting with friends allowed continuity. There is much to learn, but experimentation leading to success or failure is an exciting and continuous process.
