Ruth Masters Connar

Ruth Connar's watercolor paintings are her love of nature and detail as a naturalist painter. Ruth grew up in a family that always had flower gardens and took vacations to the mountains. She loves nature, birds, fish, flowers, pond lilies, etc.

Her childhood was filled with drawing and sculptor work from Newark, New Jersey art museums and later outdoor paintings of nature from Montclair museum. Ruth graduated from Newark Fine Industrial Art School with a degree in advertising design. Ruth Connar has had over a dozen one-woman art shows and has taken many awards in local shows as well.

Some of her paintings are in private collections as well her old school painting is displayed at the Black Mountain Primary School. Central Carolina Bank features two wildflower paintings on its walls. Ruth has created wall murals at the Old Depot and at the Valley Museum in Black Mountain, NC.

She is presently a member and past president of the Swannanoa Valley Art League and is a board member of the Valley Museum. Many of her designs, both in lettering and paintings describe the history and beginning of time in the Swannanoa valley and Black Mountain.
